Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know about the product.
What is GS1 Digital Link?
A web address enhanced with a barcode at the end: by integrating established product identifiers like GTIN into a URL, the GS1 Digital Link standard enables the creation of online digital twins for individual items, providing access to additional layers of information. These Digital Link QR-Codes, powered by GS1, are set to replace traditional barcodes on product packaging in the near future.
What is a resolver?
A resolver is a web-based system that acts as both an interpreter and a traffic manager. It deciphers, verifies, and processes the data embedded in a GS1 Digital Link, intelligently directing users to the most relevant links or content. While, in theory, anyone with sufficient resources, time, and investment can develop a resolver, in practice, the most robust and dependable resolving services are typically provided by specialized third-party vendors like us, leveraging a flexible Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) model. The GS1 Digital Link resolver offered by Digital Link Manager is part of a cutting-edge, end-to-end solution that includes a dynamic QR-Code generator, an interactive QR-Code editor, an intuitive product page builder, advanced analytics, and much more.
What is a QR code?
QR-Codes are the most commonly used type of two-dimensional (2D) code. Unlike 1D codes, 2D codes can hold a significantly larger amount of data—up to 4,296 alphanumeric characters in the case of a QR-Code, which is more than 50 times the capacity of a traditional barcode. This makes it possible to encode URLs directly into the code. QR-Codes that contain unique URLs and redirect users to specific online content are known as dynamic QR-Codes. Their destinations can be updated as needed without requiring the QR-Code to be regenerated or reprinted.
